Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Suzanis are traditional embroidered tribal textiles originating from Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. Historically crafted by brides as part of their dowry, these pieces feature symbolic motifs stitched by hand over several years.

Traditional suzanis are constructed using a foundation of hand-woven cotton or sometimes silk, decorated with vibrant silk or wool thread embroidery. Common stitches include the tambour hook, the basma stitch, and the suzani stitch, which creates dense, textured patterns.

Authentication involves examining the backing fabric for age, identifying natural organic dyes through tonal variation, checking for hand-spun threads, and observing minor irregularities indicative of genuine manual craftsmanship rather than modern machine replication.

Suzani fragments can be mounted and framed behind glass to protect the delicate silks, or hung directly on a wall using a subtle sleeve system. They introduce rich colour, cultural depth, and tactile warmth into both contemporary minimalist spaces and eclectic bohemian schemes.

Preservation requires keeping the textile out of direct sunlight to prevent dye fading and degradation of historic fibers. Professional conservation framing with UV-filtering glass and acid-free backing is recommended for long-term display.
