Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, dating from 1901 to 1910, is known for its lighter, delicate proportions compared to Victorian pieces, frequently drawing inspiration from eighteenth-century Neoclassical and Sheraton styles. Common elements include refined wood veneers, intricate satinwood inlay, scrollwork motifs, and slender tapered legs.

Craftsmen typically utilised high-grade cabinet woods such as rosewood, mahogany, and satinwood. Fine details and motifs were executed using boxwood, ebony, or mother-of-pearl inlays applied onto solid timber or high-quality veneer carcases.

Authentic Edwardian pieces feature distinct dense dark grain patterns characteristic of rosewood, precise hand-cut joinery, and natural age-related patina on undersides and joints. Marquetry inlays from this era display fine craftsmanship with clean cutouts and subtle hand-engraved details.

A compact drop-leaf table works well as an accent piece beside an armchair, in a reading nook, or positioned in an entrance hall corner. Its dark timber and delicate inlay contrast effectively against contemporary neutral walls and modern upholstered furniture.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp environments to prevent wood shrinkage, veneer lifting, or fading of the delicate inlay.
