Victorian Floral Needlework in Gilt Frame
English, 19th Century
A decorative example of Victorian domestic needlework, worked in silk threads to depict pink carnations and foliage on a black ground. The embroidery is detailed and well executed, with attractive tonal variation and texture throughout.
Set behind glass in an antique wooden frame, recently finished in black and gilt. The piece is both elegant and striking, well suited to a period or eclectic interior.
Frame dimensions: 56 cm wide x 76 cm high
Condition: The embroidery is in good antique condition. Some light spotting to the inner glass, and minor surface wear to the frame commensurate with age.
A handsome piece of 19th-century textile work, ready to hang.
