Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The serpentine style features a distinctive undulating front line, curving inward and outward in a symmetrical wave shape, which became prominent in fine cabinet making during the 18th and early 19th centuries.

Traditional construction typically involved solid hardwood frames, such as walnut, mahogany, or oak, often veneered with figured grain timbers and fitted with leather or vellum writing surfaces.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction, natural timber shrinkage, genuine patination on the metal mounts, and traditional hand-applied finishes rather than modern lacquers.

An antique writing desk functions effectively as a focal point in a home office or living space when paired with minimalist modern seating to create a balanced contrast between historical craft and clean lines.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, occasionally applying high-grade beeswax to the timber, and cleaning leather surfaces with a dry or lightly dampened cloth without harsh chemicals.
