Ludwigsburg Porcelain Teapot, C. 1770

18th century
Description

Ludwigsburg porcelain teapot and cover, c. 1770. The cylindrical teapot, set upon three lion paw feet, and is hand painted to either side, with large sprays of flowers. The shoulder painted with sprigs of flowers. Having a ‘C’ scroll handle, moulded with a lion’s head thumb piece, and a fluted spout.

The slightly domed cover, sits within a gallery, painted with sprigs of flowers, and surmounted by a lion finial.

All edged in puce enamel.

Underglaze blue painted factory mark.

Height – 12 cm, 4 3/4”.

Length (Spout to handle) – 15.5 cm, 6 1/8”.

Depth – 9.5 cm, 3 3/4”.

Condition – Some typical minor wear to the enamel.
