Description

This is a lovely 19th century lace folder, carved on both sides with roundels with flowers, diamonds, a heart all within a chip carved border.

These lace folders were used to press and smooth finished lace panels, particularly delicate handmade lace ones. Once the lace was created the panels would be dampened slightly and then pressed with the lace folder. The folder would be run gently over the lace and smooth the edges of the panels.

This lovely panel measures 14 cm l x 9 cm w.
