A Fine 18th Century French Tapestry In The Rococo Style, 1.94m X 2.43m

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Aaron Nejad Rug Gallery

This lovely 18th century French tapestry bearing a coat-of-arms, was possibly woven in the famous Gobelins workshops in Paris. The influence is very much in the Rococo style highly fashionable in the early 18th century. The composition is very elegant and engaging . Centred by a charming panel depicting boys flying a kite, the rest of the design is filled with delightful details including mythological figures and floral bouquets. The entire composition is light and very decorative. Woven in an excellent size for today''s interiors, this piece would make a fabulous addition to both period and contemporary decorative schemes. In very good condition, some repairs commensurate with the age. Professionally cleaned and lined.
