Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Cribbage was invented in the early 17th century by Sir John Suckling, who adapted the older card game noddy. Portable boards with pegged scoring systems evolved to track scores easily during tavern play and social gatherings.

Victorian game boards frequently utilised dense hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, and walnut, often embellished with brass inlays, bone pins, and hand-painted enamel details.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery, natural patination on the wood and brass, hand-drilled peg holes with slight irregularities, and wear consistent with age and handling.

This piece can be displayed flat on a coffee table as a point of tactile interest, or positioned upright on a bookshelf alongside leather-bound volumes to add character and historical texture.

Preserve the wooden surface and brass components by dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth and occasionally applying a microcrystalline wax to protect the finish without causing moisture damage.
