Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the late nineteenth century, these small accent tables feature wood cut from the amboyna burl, known for its dense, figurative grain. They frequently feature turned columns, ebonised mouldings, and octagonal or geometric tops constructed for tea service or display.

Cabinetmakers applied amboyna veneer over solid timber frames, contrasting the burl wood against ebonised borders and turned pillar supports. Bases often featured quadruped splayed legs reinforced with central stretchers and brass castors.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural variations in the burl grain rather than uniform printed patterns, accompanied by hand-cut veneers, period brass fittings, and light surface wear along the base and ebonised edges.

Position the table beside a modern armchair or sofa to hold a table lamp, or place it in a reading nook as an accent piece. The contrast between dark ebonised details and golden brown timber pairs effectively with contemporary textiles.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft lint-free cloth and apply clear beeswax polish sparingly to maintain moisture in the wood. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and damp environments to prevent veneer cracking or lifting.
