Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Drop leaf occasional tables became highly popular during the Victorian era as versatile accents for living rooms and parlours. Designed to adapt to changing space requirements, these compact tables often featured extended flaps, lower display shelves, and detailed marquetry inlay influenced by Neo-Classical revival styles.

Craftsmen predominantly used solid rosewood or mahogany, often adorned with contrasting boxwood or satinwood marquetry inlays. Construction included hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, turned brass hardware, and carefully shaped cabriole or tapered legs.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces feature hand-cut marquetry inlays, natural oxidisation on the underside of timber surfaces, original brass drop-handles or knobs, and standard Victorian construction markers such as non-uniform dovetails inside the drawer.

A Victorian drop leaf table serves well as an end table beside a contemporary sofa, an entryway accent, or a reading companion in a bedroom corner. The warm wood tones and ornate inlay balance clean, modern architectural lines.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year following the grain. Avoid placing rosewood furniture in direct sunlight or next to radiators to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer lifting.
