FAQs

A Victorian inlaid rosewood occasional table typically features a compact form, distinct dark timber grain, and decorative marquetry or urn motifs crafted from contrasting woods like boxwood.

These pieces were built using solid rosewood or thick rosewood veneers over pine or mahogany framing, often incorporating hand-cut dovetails, turned legs, lower undertiers, and brass castors.

Authentic period tables show natural patination, minor grain variations in hand-cut veneers, cast brass hardware, and intricate floral or urn marquetry set flush into the timber surface.

Place the table beside an upholstered armchair or modern sofa as a functional accent piece, pairing dark wood tones with neutral upholstery or contemporary brass table lamps.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax periodically along the grain; avoid placement in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer lifting.
