FAQs

Popularised in the nineteenth century, these tables feature hinged leaves that fold down when not in active use, maximising floor space while displaying decorative timber veneers.

Craftsmen predominantly utilised solid hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, and rosewood, frequently applying figure-rich veneers like burr walnut over secondary timber frames.

Authentic period pieces display natural grain variations, hand-cut joinery, original brass castors, and uneven wear or oxidation along the underside and structural joints.

Position the piece alongside a sofa or in an entryway, extending the hinged leaves when additional surface area is required for display or function.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax sparingly along the timber grain, keeping the object away from direct radiators and sun exposure.
