Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pioneered by architect Robert Adam in the late 18th century, the style is characterised by neoclassical motifs derived from Roman and Greek classical architecture. Common features include lighter, classical proportions, urn carvings, floral swags, fluted legs, and painted or gilded wood embellishments.

Traditional pieces often combine carved timber frames, water-gilded or painted finishes, and fitted marble tops. Frames were constructed using mortise and tenon joinery, with detailed relief ornaments formed from carved wood or applied composition decoration.

Authentic period examples display signs of hand-sawing on structural timber, natural shrinkage in timber frames, hand-carved details with minor asymmetry, and original marble showing subtle wear or hand-chiseled undersides. Later 19th and 20th-century reproductions typically exhibit modern machine tool marks and uniform gilding.

Position the semi-circular table flat against an entryway wall or narrow corridor to optimize floor space. Pair it with a modern minimalist mirror or contemporary abstract artwork mounted directly above to bridge classical architectural details with contemporary design.

Clean marble tops using a damp, soft cloth and mild, pH-neutral soap, avoiding acidic solutions that etch stone surfaces. Maintain painted and gilded frames by gently dusting with a dry feather duster or soft brush, keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and high humidity.
