Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Georgian candle boxes and wall pockets were utilitarian household objects crafted during the 18th and early 19th centuries, typically hung near fireplaces or entryways to safely store tallow candles and household sundries away from dampness and pests.

These items were predominantly constructed from native hardwoods such as oak, elm, or pine, joined using traditional methods such as dovetailing, pegged joints, or hand-cut nails, featuring a shaped backboard with a suspension hole.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber shrinkage, hand-tool marks, period-appropriate fixings, and centuries of rich patination, distinguishing them from modern reproductions.

A wooden wall pocket can be mounted in a hallway, kitchen, or living space to hold dried botanicals, letters, or small accessories, adding texture and historical warmth to modern minimalist or rustic schemes.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sudden humidity fluctuations, occasionally applying a microcrystalline wax to nourish the grain without sealing the historic surface.
