FAQs

The Georgian style spans the reigns of the four British kings named George from 1714 to 1830, characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and the introduction of fine imported timbers like mahogany.

These items were typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, often featuring dovetailed joints, raised gallery edges to prevent items from sliding, and hand-forged brass carrying handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural ageing characteristics such as surface patination, hand-planed irregularities on the underside, oxidisation around brass fittings, and shrinkage cracks consistent with centuries of atmospheric changes.

This piece can be styled functionally on a coffee table to group candles and glassware, or mounted vertically on a wall as a decorative wooden accent.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent splitting, and periodically nourish the surface with traditional beeswax rather than modern liquid polishes.
