This Georgian style occasional table comes from 1900 and uses dark brown mahogany with brass elements. The circular top features a scalloped piecrust rim and rests on a turned pedestal column above three tripod cabriole legs with carved knees and ball and claw feet. The practical design allows the top to tilt for easy storage. Dimensions measure 71 cm high, 69 cm wide and 69 cm deep. Place the piece in an empty corner of a living room or study as a functional side table for small items, or use it for games. The versatile surface fits well into an English country house interior scheme while providing a compact footprint for daily use.

A piecrust tilt-top table is an eighteenth-century style of occasional furniture defined by a scalloped, raised rim resembling a pie crust and a hinged top that folds upright on a tripod base.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid mahogany or walnut, featuring a hand-turned central column, carved cabriole legs, and a brass latch mechanism underneath the top.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved details, natural timber oxidisation on the underside, original brass tilt catches, and iron bearer plates reinforcing the tripod leg joint.

Position the table beside an armchair as a drinks table, or display it with the top tilted vertically against a wall to highlight the timber grain and carved edge.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dust regularly with a soft cloth, apply beeswax annually, and support the top when operating the release catch.
