Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large early 19th-century kitchen preparation table embodies the Victorian country style. Constructed from elm and fruitwood with a warm brown timber finish, the piece features a moulded table top, six turned legs, and four frieze drawers fitted with brass drop handles. The long, substantial proportions measure 79 cm high, 259 cm wide, and 81 cm deep. Suitable for use as a central workspace or a serving surface, the table suits a farmhouse kitchen, a pantry, or a large open-plan dining area. The rustic finish and functional storage drawers make it a practical surface for food preparation, entertaining, or everyday family life in a traditional home.

FAQs

An antique kitchen preparation table is a substantial freestanding workstation historically positioned in large domestic kitchens to facilitate food preparation, featuring thick timber tops and integrated drawers for culinary utensils.

These tables were typically constructed using durable hardwoods or softwoods such as pine, oak, elm, or beech, often secured with mortise and tenon joinery and fitted with brass or iron hardware.

Authentic period tables display signs of historical utility, including natural wear patterns on the table surface, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, hand-turned support legs, and period-correct hardware mountings.

Large preparation tables function effectively as central kitchen islands, sideboards in open-plan dining areas, or practical display surfaces in spacious hallways, contrasting well with modern cabinetry.

Preserve the wood finish by regularly applying high-grade beeswax polish, cleaning surfaces with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth, and avoiding direct exposure to extreme heat or moisture sources.
