Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian pedestal dining table has a tilt-top mechanism allowing the large top to stand vertically. The oval top features a burr walnut veneer with warm brown tones and a serpentine scalloped edge, supported on a carved tripod base with scroll feet. Visible details include rich figuring in the wood grain and polished wood surfaces. The piece measures 152 cm by 114 cm across the top and stands 75 cm high. Placed in a dining room, kitchen, or library, this table serves as a central gathering surface for meals or meetings. The tilt-top design provides flexibility, allowing the table to be stored or repositioned against a wall when floor space is needed.

Mid-19th century tables designed with a tilting top mechanism originally used for card games such as Loo, later becoming popular accent or dining tables in domestic spaces.

These pieces were crafted from solid walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, frequently incorporating burr veneers on the tabletop surface to highlight complex grain figure.

Authentic pieces feature original brass tilt-top catch mechanisms, hand-carved pedestal details, original ceramic castors, and distinct burr walnut figure with natural surface patina.

Position the table in a dining nook, breakfast area, or large hallway alongside contemporary seating or minimalist ceramics to balance the ornate base and rich wood figure.

Position away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dust routinely with a soft cloth, and apply high-quality beeswax sparingly to maintain the original finish.
