It is of amazing quality, with a gorgeous burr walnut top with serpentine edges, and a fabulously carved base. The carving on the base is really quite special, have a good look at the close up images to see the intricate details.

The burr walnut grain patterns on the top are stunning, this has a gorgeous colour tone and patina. The top flips up and can be removed entirely for ease of transport.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian burr walnut dining tables, popular during the mid-to-late 19th century, are characterised by highly figured root wood veneers and revival styling. Often featuring central pedestal bases and carved cabriole legs, these pieces served as functional focal points in formal dining rooms and drawing rooms.

Craftsmen applied thin slices of burr walnut veneer over solid pine or mahogany cores to create symmetrical grain patterns, known as book-matching. Bases were typically carved from solid walnut or hardwood with hand-cut joinery, cabriole legs, and brass castors.

Authentic 19th-century examples display age-related patination, hand-cut timber underside surfaces, and period-correct brass castors. Look for authentic hand-finished construction beneath the top and natural, irregular variations in the burl veneer grain.

Position the table as a central feature in a dining space or entrance hall, paired with contemporary seating to balance historical details. Warm timber tones harmonise with neutral wall palettes, linen upholstery, and simple brass lighting fixtures.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish twice yearly along the direction of the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme humidity shifts to prevent veneer movement or lifting.
