This early 20th-century vintage English Art Deco porcelain figurine is titled "Granny's Shawl" and bears the design model number HN 1642. Modelled in bone china with a hand-painted gloss glaze, the object depicts a young female figure wearing a pink-tinged cream tiered ruffled dress, a purple and green draped shawl secured with a red bow, a pink bonnet headwear, and holding a small flower basket filled with yellow and blue blossoms. The base measures 14.6 cm high, 9.5 cm wide, and 7 cm deep. In a contemporary home, the figurine is well suited for display on a mantelpiece in an English country house setting.

Royal Doulton began producing hand-painted porcelain figurines in Staffordshire, England, during the early 20th century, gaining international recognition for detailed character studies and ceramic craftsmanship.

These pieces are crafted from fine bone china or hard-paste porcelain, which is moulded, fired at high temperatures, and decorated using hand-applied polychrome glazes.

Authentic items typically display a printed manufacturer mark on the base, including the Royal Doulton lion and crown crest, the model title, and a designated HN reference number.

Small porcelain figures can be displayed on a curated bookshelf, inside a glass cabinet, or atop a mantelpiece to introduce colour and historical detail to a room scheme.

Dust the item gently using a soft, dry lint-free cloth or a small camel-hair brush, avoiding liquid immersion or abrasive cleaners that could damage delicate applied details.
