Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency inkstand is an antique bronze desk accessory in the grand Regency style, designed for a gentleman's library or office desk. The piece combines a warm bronze finish with clear glass inkwells, featuring a rectangular tray with a central wafer box, a pen tray channel, and a pair of square glass inkwells with matching metal lids. Decorative elements include leaf-shaped side handles, bun feet, and moulded edges along the rectangular base. Signs of age appear in the aged patina on the bronze and the subtle surface wear across the metal components. Measuring 6 cm high, 25 cm wide, and 12 cm deep, it provides a functional writing accessory for a study desk or tabletop display in a home today. Placed upon a wooden writing desk or side table, it holds pens and ink while adding period character to a workspace.

FAQs

Regency inkstands, originating from the early 19th century, are characterised by classical symmetry, heavy cast metalwork, and motifs influenced by Greek, Roman, and Egyptian antiquity.

High-grade inkstands from this era were primarily fabricated from cast bronze, brass, or silver, often featuring removable cut-glass ink vessels and integrated pen channels.

Authentic Regency pieces exhibit hand-finished casting, natural surface patination or patinated oxidisation, hand-cut glass pots, and structural joinery consistent with early 19th-century manufacturing techniques.

An antique inkstand serves as a functional decorative object on a home office desk, console table, or library shelf, anchoring contemporary spaces with historical character.

Dust bronze surfaces gently with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive cleaners that strip historic patina, while glass liners should be cleaned separately with mild soap and warm water.
