Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. This freestanding console and hall table belongs to the 1920 Queen Anne Revival style. The piece uses warm brown burr walnut veneer with an oak-lined interior, showing rich grain patterns across the rectangular top and two drawers. The frieze has carved moulding along the edge, flanked by carved walnut motifs of bells and flowers, while the solid carved walnut cabriole legs terminate in claw and ball feet. Small dark keyhole escutcheons are set into the drawer faces. The item measures 79.5 cm high, 121.5 cm wide, and 65 cm deep. It works well placed beside the front door or in an entrance hallway as a surface for decorative objects, correspondence, or everyday items in a home.

FAQs

Queen Anne style tables are defined by fluid curves, cabriole legs, carved detailing, and rich wood veneers such as walnut. This design aesthetic emphasizes balanced proportions and understated elegance rather than excessive surface ornament.

These tables typically feature a solid hardwood framework, often oak or pine secondary timber, covered with highly figured burr walnut veneers. Hand-carved decorative mouldings and brass or metal lock plates and key escutcheon plates are also standard components.

Authentic period construction features hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, natural unevenness in hand-planed timber, and historic patination in areas of frequent wear. Veneers on original pieces show light age marks and natural wood grain variation rather than uniform plastic-like finishes.

A burr walnut console table functions well as an entryway accent, placed beneath a framed mirror, or positioned behind a sofa in a open-plan living room. Combining natural wood tones with contemporary wall paint creates a grounded, layered look.

Maintain burr walnut surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the veneer from drying out or fading.
