This Italian Neoclassical low coffee table, dating from 1890, brings functional elegance to a living room or sitting area as a central display surface. The piece is constructed from beech wood with a cream painted finish and gilded accents, topped by a 2 cm thick quartz marble slab. Delicate gold scrollwork decorates the frieze, complemented by central carved gilt ornamentation hanging beneath the apron and fine fluting on the tapering cylindrical legs. Distressed paintwork and aged gilding reveal the character of the wood underneath, while the turned feet exhibit subtle wear consistent with nineteenth-century decorative arts. Measuring 52 cm high, 127 cm wide, and 66 cm deep, the table provides a substantial platform for books or decorative objects while maintaining an open silhouette. Positioned in front of a sofa or within a formal lounge, the table offers a durable, heat-resistant surface suited for everyday entertaining. The neutral cream and white palette harmonises easily with classic or transitional interior schemes, anchoring a seating arrangement with historical charm. The combination of carved wooden details and smooth stone creates tactile contrast, making the low table both a practical furnishing and a decorative focal point in a home.

Italian Neoclassical furniture features straight architectural lines, fluted or tapered legs, painted polychrome finishes, and classical decorative motifs influenced by Greco-Roman archaeology.

These tables were constructed from carved wood frames with hand-applied gesso bases, hand-painted finishes, water gilding, and marble tabletops.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural paint wear showing gesso or timber underneath, hand-carved details, historical wood joinery, and patinated marble or gilt surfaces.

Position the table as a central piece alongside tailored contemporary sofas or neutral linen upholstery to balance classic ornamentation with modern minimalism.

Dust the painted wood gently using a dry microfibre cloth without liquid cleaners, and wipe the marble top using a pH-neutral stone cleaner to avoid acid etching.
