This Queen Anne revival occasional table dates from the 1920s and exhibits a warm brown hue across its circular burr walnut veneer top. The timber displays rich figure depth, encircled by a scalloped piecrust rim with carved detailing and a moulded edge. Four cabriole legs support the frame, decorated with acanthus leaf carving on the knees and terminating in ball and claw feet. Measuring 77 cm high, 80 cm wide and 40 cm deep, the table fits naturally beside the end of a sofa in a living room, study or country house interior for holding lamps, drinks or decorative objects.

Queen Anne style furniture is defined by graceful proportions, curved lines, cabriole legs, and pad or ball-and-claw feet. Originating in the early 18th century and frequently revived in the early 20th century, pieces often showcase highly figured walnut or burr walnut veneers.

These tables are primarily constructed using solid walnut timber combined with decorative burr walnut veneer panels. Carved details on the knees and feet are integrated into the solid timber legs.

1920s revival items feature machine-assisted precision joinery alongside hand-carved detailing. Look for uniform drawer construction, subtle surface patination, and precise veneer matched across the tabletop.

Position the table beside contemporary tailored seating to create a balanced contrast between modern upholstery and detailed timber work. Pair with simple ceramic or glass decorative accents to highlight the rich natural grain of the burr walnut top.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to protect the timber finish. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer movement or fading.
