Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Leather fire buckets were standard safety equipment in large British estates and public buildings from the 17th through the 19th centuries, often kept in halls or corridors in readiness for forming bucket chains to combat domestic blazes.

They were typically constructed from thick, vegetable-tanned bovine leather that was soaked, moulded around a wooden or metal former, and stitched or riveted at the seams, frequently featuring copper or iron rims and base rings for structural integrity.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy patination, hand-stitched or pegged seams, forged iron or copper fixings with period-appropriate hand-beaten rivets, and shrinkage cracks consistent with centuries of ageing.

They make excellent decorative receptacles for hearthside kindling, dried botanicals, or walking sticks, adding historical texture and rich dark tones to traditional or transitional spaces.

Keep leather artefacts away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent desiccation, and treat periodically with museum-grade microcrystalline wax or specialist leather dressing to maintain flexibility.
