Georgian needlework pictures are embroidered artworks created during the Georgian era, often depicting pastoral, botanical, or exotic subjects stitched by hand on silk or linen.

These works typically utilise silk threads, wool, and metallic yarns stitched onto a finely woven silk or linen ground, often housed in original giltwood or papier-mache frames.

Authenticity is determined by examining the hand-spun threads, the weave of the backing fabric, the presence of aged hand-beaded or gilt frames, and the natural oxidisation of the materials.

These pieces integrate well into traditional and eclectic spaces, often mounted on panelled walls or grouped within gallery arrangements to add historic texture and colour.

To prevent fading and fibre degradation, antique needlework must be displayed away from direct sunlight, maintained at a stable humidity, and protected behind UV-filtering glass.
