FAQs

Dinner gongs became popular in large British households during the Victorian era, often utilised to summon residents and guests to formal evening meals.

Authentic period pieces typically combine natural highland cattle horns or antelopes with a brass or bronze gong, mounted on a solid oak or mahogany wooden base with silver-plated or brass mounts.

Authenticity is indicated by period-appropriate construction methods, hand-beaten metalwork, natural age-related patination on the horn and brass, and traditional joinery on the wooden base.

This statement piece serves as a striking focal point when displayed on a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece within a study, hallway, or eclectic living space.

Maintain the piece by dusting gently with a dry microfiber cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners on the horn, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to preserve the metal surfaces.
