Early 19th-century English botanical porcelain is characterised by hand-painted floral illustrations, often inspired by contemporary botanical publications, combined with fine gilding and neoclassical shapes.

These pieces were typically crafted using soft-paste or bone china bodies, shaped in moulds, and hand-decorated with enamels and gilded borders before being fired in a kiln.

Authentic pieces are identified through examination of the paste, glaze pooling, hand-painted brushwork details, wear consistent with age, and occasional factory marks or pattern numbers on the underside.

Display the dish on a small easel, inside a glass cabinet, or mounted flat on a wall to highlight its intricate artwork as a focal point within a room.

Clean antique porcelain strictly by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh scrubbing or dishwashers, and keep it away from direct sunlight to protect the enamel colours.
