FAQs

Faux bamboo furniture gained immense popularity in France during the 19th century, heavily influenced by Japonisme and Asian design imports following the opening of trade with Japan.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as beech or birch, meticulously hand-turned and carved to imitate real bamboo segments, and topped with imported marble.

Authenticity is determined by traditional joinery methods, hand-turned node details that show natural variations, natural wear consistent with age, and heavy, slab-cut marble tops.

It can be integrated as a striking console table in a hallway or used as a distinctive side table, adding texture and historical contrast to modern minimalist spaces.

Preserve the wood by dusting with a dry cloth and avoiding silicone polishes, while protecting the marble surface from acidic spills by using coasters and applying a neutral stone sealer.
