Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Carved oak panels were historically crafted as architectural elements for wealthy residences, serving as wall panelling, overmantels, or friezes during the 17th and 18th centuries.

These panels were traditionally fashioned from solid English or European oak, utilizing hand-chisels, gouges, and hand-planes to execute deep relief carvings and mortise-and-tenon framing.

Authenticity is determined by examining tool marks, timber shrinkage, oxidation patterns, grain depth, and consistency of wear appropriate to the stated age.

Such pieces are frequently mounted directly onto walls as focal artwork or installed above modern fireplaces to introduce historical texture and contrast.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the wood surface.
