Regency and early 19th-century styles are characterised by classical proportions, heavily figured mahogany veneers, and structural elements inspired by ancient Greek and Roman designs, often featuring central pedestals and tripod bases.

These tables were typically constructed using solid mahogany or pine frames applied with flame or crotch mahogany veneers, assembled using traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon, and hand-turned wooden components.

Authenticity can be determined by examining the timber grain, hand-cut dovetails or joinery, natural wax patination, and tool marks on the underside, which indicate period hand-tooling rather than modern machine production.

An antique pedestal table adds warmth and architectural contrast when placed beside contemporary seating or used as a focal point in a minimalist room, paired with simple ceramics or lamps to balance historical weight.

Preserve the finish by keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and applying natural beeswax periodically to maintain the moisture and sheen of the wood.
