Delftware refers to tin-glazed earthenware made in the Netherlands and England primarily during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, heavily influenced by imported Chinese porcelain.

These pieces were typically thrown from local clay, coated in an opaque white tin glaze, hand-painted with metallic oxide pigments, and fired in a kiln.

Authentic pieces often exhibit minor glaze imperfections, crazing, subtle firing faults, hand-brushed cobalt decoration, and characteristic body weight typical of historical earthenware.

Such objects can be displayed as standalone decorative accents on open surfaces, bringing historic texture and classic colour contrast to contemporary or traditional spaces.

Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, avoid submersion in water or harsh chemical cleaners, and protect from rapid temperature fluctuations and impacts.
