A games compendium is a boxed collection of multiple traditional parlour and board games, highly popular during the Victorian era for domestic entertainment.

These sets commonly feature solid woods such as oak or mahogany, often paired with carved bone, ivory, boxwood, and inlaid boards for chess and draughts.

Authentic pieces generally display period-appropriate joinery, hand-carving details, traditional brass hardware, and natural wear consistent with age and material ageing.

Displaying the opened box on a coffee table or a side table adds a layer of tactile texture, historical interest, and interactive decor to a living space.

Keep wooden boxes and components away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, cleaning gently with a dry or barely damp microfibre cloth without harsh chemicals.
