FAQs

Art Deco emerged in France during the 1910s and flourished internationally during the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of modern industrial materials alongside luxurious woods.

Art Deco furniture makers frequently utilised exotic veneers such as burr walnut, Macassar ebony, and satinwood, often contrasted with modern industrial elements like chrome plating, nickel, and glass.

Authentic pieces typically feature distinctive geometric construction, high-gloss French polished or lacquered timber veneers, integration of metal components, and traditional joinery methods hidden beneath the streamlined exterior.

An Art Deco table serves as a strong focal point and pairs well with minimalist contemporary seating, neutral colour palettes, and metallic accessories that echo the periods architectural geometry.

Maintain walnut surfaces by dusting with a soft, dry cloth and applying microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the wood, while chrome components can be wiped with a damp cloth and dried immediately to prevent tarnishing.
