FAQs

Anglo-Indian furniture refers to pieces crafted in India during the British colonial period, often from the late 18th to the early 20th century, combining traditional Indian motifs with British furniture forms.

These items are typically constructed from dense tropical hardwoods such as teak or sheesham, featuring intricate pierced carvings and frequently paired with hammered brass or copper trays.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-carved details with minor irregularities, traditional joinery methods, aged patination on the metal surfaces, and dense, heavy timber construction.

Such tables work effectively as eclectic accent pieces in contemporary living spaces, providing textural contrast when paired with minimalist upholstery or neutral modern sofas.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical polishes, and treating the timber periodically with appropriate natural waxes to prevent drying.
