This Art Deco nest of tables from 1930 comprises one large central octagonal table and four matching two-tiered sectional tables that fit snugly underneath. Constructed from walnut and burr walnut with a warm brown finish, the top showcases a quarter-matched burr walnut veneer with a central circular marquetry inlay, bordered by fine moulding and supported by distinctive curved legs resting on shaped feet. The set measures 52.5 cm high, 69.5 cm wide, and 76.5 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this versatile space-saving arrangement functions well at the end of a sofa or as a central feature in a sitting room, providing accessible surface space when entertaining while maintaining a compact footprint when nested.

Originating in the 1920s and 1930s, an Art Deco nest of tables features geometric forms, figured timber veneers, and space-saving modular design where smaller auxiliary tables fit beneath a main central table.

Craftsmen frequently utilised figured burr walnut veneers, solid hardwood frames, and marquetry inlaid detailing to highlight symmetry and natural wood grain patterns.

Authentic period pieces display characteristics such as quarter-matched veneers, geometric octagonal or circular silhouettes, curved leg profiles, and precise fitting mechanisms for the sub-tables.

Position the complete set together as a central focal coffee table or separate the individual tables beside armchairs and sofas to provide flexible serving surfaces.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply high-quality beeswax periodically along the timber grain, and prevent long-term exposure to direct sunlight and moisture.
