FAQs

Art Deco furniture emerged in France during the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by geometric symmetry, clean lines, and a synthesis of traditional craftsmanship with modernist industrial aesthetics.

Craftsmen typically utilised exotic and domestic hardwoods such as oak, burr walnut, mahogany, and macassar ebony, often featuring marquetry, parquetry, and subtle metallic or ivory accents.

Authentication involves examining the joinery construction, verifying period-appropriate wood species and veneers, checking for maker stamps or signatures, and observing the characteristic geometric parquetry patterns.

This table works well as a focal point in a contemporary dining room or office, paired with minimalist seating to highlight its geometric parquetry top and architectural base.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, periodically applying traditional beeswax polish, and using protective felt pads under objects placed on the surface.
