Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Jacobean Revival draw-leaf refectory table dates from 1900 and is fashioned from solid oak with a warm brown timber finish. The rectangular top comprises panelled boards with sliding extensions at either end. Elaborately turned baluster legs support the heavy top, joined by a low central stretcher base fitted with a locking peg. An intricately carved frieze runs beneath the edge, displaying scrollwork and symmetrical motifs. Minor surface scuffs appear on the wooden base from past use. When fully extended, the surface measures 183 cm by 91 cm. Suitable as a dining or kitchen table in an English Country House interior, the surface seats multiple diners comfortably for daily meals or family gatherings. The extending leaves allow the top to adjust in size depending on the seating requirements of the room. The solid wooden construction provides a stable foundation for placement on flat flooring in a dining space or large kitchen.

A refectory draw leaf table is an extending dining table design originating from monastic dining halls, featuring two self-storing leaves that slide out from underneath the central tabletop to expand seating capacity.

These tables are constructed primarily from solid European oak, featuring mortise and tenon joinery, heavy turned baluster legs, and a sturdy low stretcher base for structural rigidity.

Authentic period pieces display hand-planed surface textures, wooden pegged joints, natural timber shrinkage across the grain, and accumulated patination in unpolished areas beneath the frame.

Balance the substantial visual weight of solid oak by pairing the table with contemporary upholstered dining chairs or slender metal frames under modern pendant lighting.

Maintain the surface by applying natural beeswax every six to twelve months, cleaning spills immediately with a dry cloth, and positioning the piece away from direct heat sources.
