The Bow porcelain manufactory, established in east London during the mid-18th century, was one of the earliest English producers of soft-paste porcelain, notable for creating figures and tableware inspired by European prototypes.

Early Bow figures were crafted using a soft-paste porcelain body, typically containing bone ash and clay, finished with a transparent lead glaze and hand-painted enamel colours.

Authentic pieces often feature unglazed flat bases, subtle firing flaws, anchor and dagger marks in red or blue, and the characteristic warm, creamy tone of soft-paste porcelain.

These pieces can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, on mantelshelves, or atop sideboards to add historic character and delicate craftsmanship to contemporary spaces.

Dust gently with a soft, dry brush and avoid submerging in water, especially if the piece has historic repairs or fragile painted enamels.
