This George IV dining table is a nineteenth century piece made from goncalo alves and rosewood in warm brown timber tones. The furniture piece has a rounded rectangle top with cross banding, supported on a central spiral turned column above a reeded pedestal stem. Four splayed quadruped legs sweep outwards to terminate in brass paw castors. The timber shows natural grain variations across the surface. Measuring 73 cm high, 137 cm wide, and 80 cm deep, the table fits into dining spaces, living rooms, or studies as a central surface for daily use or gatherings. The design works in traditional or eclectic home interiors alongside seating arrangements.

Furniture from the George IV period, spanning 1820 to 1830, bridges late Regency and early Victorian design. It features rich tropical hardwoods like rosewood and goncalo alves, reeded turned legs, bold carved motifs, and brass accents.

Craftsmen commonly used exotic hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, and goncalo alves, often combining veneers with solid timber bases to highlight decorative grain patterns.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-saw marks on secondary woods, period-correct brass tilt-top latches, reeded detailing executed by hand, and original brass castors integrated into the legs.

A period tilt-top table can serve as an entryway focal point in a foyer or act as a compact dining table paired with contemporary chairs to create contrast.

Dust surfaces regularly with a microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight.
