Chinese Porcelain Export Ware Chestnut Basket

Description

An early to mid 19th century Chinese export blue and white porcelain reticulated chestnut basket of oval shape with a landscape scene to the base.

A beautiful and incredibly delicate Chinese blue and white chestnut basket, dating from the first half of the 19th century, with a landscape scene to the base and a patterned border.

Condition: There is an area to the base and the bottom of the reticulated area where a damaged area has been restored. From the inside this is quite hard to spot as the restoration has been well done, but from the outside it looks as though it has been either chipped again or the restored areas has failed - please see the photos. There is a very fine hairline crack in the rim. At both ends of the basket are areas where it looks as though it once had handles - presumably the handles became damaged so they were removed and the surface made good.
