Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating from Great Britain during the reign of King George III (17601820), these tables are characterised by classical proportions, high-quality mahogany wood, straight or tapered legs, and subtle functional detailing such as brass galleries and cross-stretchers.

Tables of this period were predominantly constructed from solid Cuban or West Indian mahogany, frequently paired with pierced or stamped brass rims around the table surface to prevent items from sliding off.

Authentic 18th-century pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, hand-planed secondary woods such as oak or pine internally, natural age-related timber shrinkage, and original patinated brass hardware.

An occasional table works as an accent piece alongside upholstered sofas, within empty alcoves, or flanking an armchair, providing contrast when paired with contemporary textiles and neutral wall colours.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year, ensuring the piece is kept away from direct heat sources and excessive sunlight to prevent timber movement.
