Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian Georgian Revival serving tray dates from 1900 and exemplifies English Country House style. Constructed from warm brown mahogany with coopered woodworking, the piece has an oval form measuring 9 cm high, 59 cm wide, and 37 cm deep. The design incorporates a raised gallery rim with integrated scrolled handles and a decorative brass banding trim encircling the outer body. The polished timber grain shows natural variations in shade, while the metal banding exhibits a subtle aged patina. Placed on a sideboard top or display console in a dining room, living area, or hallway, the tray serves as both a functional serving accessory and an interior display surface. The raised edges and sturdy handles ensure safe transport for glassware or tableware during hosting, while the classic silhouette complements traditional home interiors.

FAQs

Georgian Revival design draws upon 18th-century English cabinetmaking traditions, characterised by classical proportions, high-quality timbers such as mahogany, and refined brass or marquetry details.

Cabinetmakers commonly utilised rich mahogany, walnut, or satinwood, often bound with brass bands or featuring inlaid marquetry and integrated side handles for stability.

Look for hand-fitted brass hardware, authentic timber patination, fine joinery along the rim, and natural age-related marks on the underside.

Position the tray on a sideboard, coffee table, or ottoman to group decanters, glassware, or decorative objects into a cohesive visual arrangement.

Dust regularly with a soft lint-free cloth, apply high-grade beeswax sparingly to nourish the timber, and protect the surface from direct moisture or hot vessels.
