Apothecary Jar Mid 19th Century

A large salt glazed stoneware apothecary jar which is in very good condition, commensurate with age, with no cracks and one tiny chip at the base.
 
Decorated at the base and lid with foliage, it bears a hand painted label: PULV-AMYLI. This indicates it was for a rubbing ointment to hasten the disappearance of any syphilitic skin lesion!
