This Jacobean style solid oak oval dropleaf gateleg dining table dates from 1920 and follows an English Country design vibe. The solid oak timber exhibits a rich dark brown colour with visible wood grain across the tabletop and the downward-facing leaves. The piece stands on barley twist turned legs that are connected by low rectangular box stretchers near the floor, supporting a traditional drop leaf mechanism with a pull-out gateleg action on either side to expand the surface area. The top edge of the fixed central board has a stepped moulding running along its length. Measuring 76 cm high by 91.5 cm wide and 76 cm deep when closed, the furniture functions as a compact console or side table in a hallway or living room, while opening fully to serve meals as a dining table in a kitchen or dining space.
