Treen refers to small, functional, handmade wooden domestic objects and utensils produced before the widespread use of plastics and mass manufacturing.

Craftsmen typically utilised dense hardwoods such as boxwood, lignum vitae, fruitwood, and walnut to ensure durability and allow for fine lathe turning.

Authenticity is indicated by tool marks left from hand-operated lathes, consistent patina, natural wear patterns, and the shrinkage characteristics of aged timber.

These pieces function well as small-scale display objects on bookshelves, mantelpieces, or side tables, adding texture and historical interest to minimal or eclectic spaces.

Items should be kept away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, dusted gently with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally treated with microcrystalline wax.
