Pair of mid C19th decorated faux ‘verde antico’ simulated marble wooden display columns.
Impressive pair of elegant faux marble columns of desirable scale and height for displaying sculpture. The skilfully-executed painted faux marble finish replicating ‘verde antico’ stone .
Raised on a square plinth , the columns each with a pale cream striated turned contrasting ring . The circular columnar bodies of uniform diameter , the top surfaces with some evidence of historic wear and loss of decoration .
Substantial heavy-weight columns of solid and stable construction, in excellent original condition with only minimal wear or loss to the decoration. The simulated marble bodies probably constructed from pine .
