Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This French Chateau style side table dates from 1900 and is constructed from wood with a light grey painted finish. The square top sits above a beaded frieze, supported by slender cabriole legs with decorative floral carved shoulders and running fluted details. An X-shaped stretcher connects the legs near the floor, centred with a small turned finial. The paintwork shows deliberate distressing and rubbing along the edges to expose the timber underneath, creating a weathered, rustic patina. The piece measures 76 cm high, 46 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. In a modern interior, this compact table serves well as an end table beside a sofa or as a decorative accent piece in a living room, hallway or bedroom. Its neutral palette allows it to blend easily into traditional or transitional schemes while providing a stable surface for lamps, books or decorative objects.

French Louis XV furniture is characterised by asymmetrical curves, slender cabriole legs, detailed hand-carvings, and light painted or parcel-gilded finishes originally designed to soften room interiors.

These tables were typically crafted from native European hardwoods such as beech, walnut, or oak, then finished with gesso, milk paint, or layered tempera and subtle gilding.

Authentic pieces feature traditional mortise and tenon joinery, natural wear patterns where paint has thinned on high-contact edges, and hand-carved details that lack modern machine symmetry.

Place the table alongside contemporary upholstered furniture or in a neutral hallway to create visual contrast between structured modern lines and softened historic patinas.

Dust regularly with a dry microfiber cloth, avoid spirit-based cleaners or excessive water, and apply a light clear beeswax occasionally to preserve the existing paint layers.
