An exceptional C19th carved bear Black Forest hall stand; an excellent example of bold proportions, the large standing bear, with his large head with a great expression, open mouthed and glass eyes; standing on a naturalistic rockwork base incorporating a zinc drip tray. His left paw supporting a well carved, looped branch, to hold umbrellas and walking sticks. His right arm raised with his paw holding the tree with the two cubs playfully climbing. The upper branches with scrolled terminals for the hanging of coats and hats. Good rich colour and patination. Carved from Linden wood; all three bears with original glass eyes.
