Original Retro has dated this Antique Dutch Slipware Jar to the 17th Century.
This is a late 17th or early 18th century earthenware strawberry jar with slip decoration.
The has a little handle at the back with on the body a slip decoration of letters or initials: J, v.d. W., most probably the initials of the owner of the strawberry jar.
The jar has a tapered bottom ending on a stand ring.
In the bottom is a hole pierced for letting water out after cleaning the fruit.
An old collectors i.d. is still visible on the bottom of the jar.
